Post-Fashion Week Blues

Yesterday was my first day back at the office after two weeks of travel to Africa and then to New York for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.  The last ten days had been a blur of airports, New York City skyline, and of course glamorous shows.  As I sat at my desk hoping that my timesheet had been approved and skimming through overly aggressive email chains between coworkers, I longed for the lazy mornings mon bel homme and I had spent eating lavish breakfasts and sipping lattes at the Ritz Carlton.   (By the way, if you ever in your life have a chance to stay at the Ritz, do it.  You would expect the staff at such a hotel to be quite good, however the staff at the Ritz Carlton Battery Park were so unbelievable that it defied reason.)

Now I am back in the office and writing AA-AARs (Academic Affairs After Action Reviews- we like our acronyms here at the Department of Defense), editing syllabi, and coordinating contracts for guest speakers at our upcoming events and I’m finding that the hours pass by more slowly when I’m not running from one show to another, meeting new people, or asking with envy where pieces were purchased.

Not to worry though, new things are coming to HLG which are sure to keep me busy over the next few weeks.   Look for the blog to change a bit, more original content from myself and also more photos!  I am a bit of a photography fail at the moment, however armed with a new camera, a few iTunesU photography courses and a little help from those in the know, I am keen to fix this.  Check back to see how things change and let me know your thoughts and suggestions!
