During the spring 2013 shows this past month the runways held more than a hint of nostalgia for the 90s. Some designers were clearly influenced–Henry Holland, Phillip Lim, and Dries van Noten all cribbed literally from the looks of the last decade of the 20th century.
Less literally interpreted, but still very much there, were the beauty looks. What started last spring as a mere nod to 90s beauty (with dark wine lipstick–still a lingering fall trend) is continuing full-blown through to next spring. From shows with as seemingly disparate styles as Rag & Bone and The Blonds, hair and makeup gurus looked for inspiration to the decade that brought us both grunge and the glamazon supers. The Fashionista breaks it down for us.
